International cooperation



In 2009, scientific and technical cooperation between the NSC "Institute of Experimental and Clinical Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Medicine research institutions of other countries took place on the basis of bilateral agreements signed in previous years on the basis of initiative and the principles of currency-free exchange. The aim was to develop scientific cooperation of diagnosis and prevention of infectious animal diseases and development of measures to combat them. Scientific and technical cooperation also took place through the exchange of information.



In late 2008, 20 employees of the National Scientific Center "Institute of Experimental and Clinical Veterinary Medicine trained at the National Veterinary Research Institute (Pulawy, Poland) for directions:
- Infectious diseases;
- Diagnosis of zoonoses;
- Quality control of animal feed;
- Remains of harmful and banned substances in meat and meat products (European Union Council Directive 96/23).

Financing training was carried out by the European Union.
The work was to obtain information on new techniques in molecular diagnostics, clinical biochemistry and immunology, biotechnology, helminthology, new methods of bacteriological and virological studies, and new information on the quality of animal feed and animal products.

In February of 2008. NSC "IECVM" visited the Doctor of Veterinary Science, Professor Tadeusz Vyyashka, director of the National Veterinary Research Institute, Poland.

As a result of the visit was extended by agreement of cooperation between the NSC "IECVM and the National veterinary Research Institute (Poland). Under this agreement Polish party undertakes joint research in the framework of European programs, graduate and doctoral studies at the National Institute of Veterinary Medicine, to assist harmonization with EU requirements on standardization of laboratories, facilities requirements of GLP, GMP, ISO 9001, holding joint monitoring research on the diagnosis of dangerous diseases.

In November 2008, Deputy Director of the NSC "IECVM" on science Kutsan O.T. took part in the international seminar "New directions in treatment, diagnosis and prevention of infectious diseases", held in France (Lyon). It returned information on new methods of controlling infectious diseases in Europe and the CIS.

In June 2009, Director of the NSC "IECVM" Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, academician of Academy of Agrarian Sciences Stegniy B.T. took part in the conference Ukrainian Science and Technology Center on biosafety and biosecurity, held in France (Annecy). The conference discussed the priorities in the field of biosecurity and biosafety.

Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Diagnostics, candidate of Veterinary Science Gerilovych A.P. took part in a master class on molecular diagnostics at the National Veterinary Institute in Uppsala (Sweden). During the visit he received information on new techniques in molecular diagnostics, it was agreed and began the preparation of new research projects.

Head of the Laboratory of diseases of bees, candidate of Veterinary Sciences Masliy I.G. participated in the congress "Apimondia 2009", held from 12 to 24 September 2009 in Montpellier (France). It received new information concerning the diagnosis of dangerous diseases of bees, the definition of naturalness and quality of bee products.

In October 2009, Deputy Director of the NSC "IECVM" of Science, Doctor of Veterinary Science Kutsan O.T. by invitation Threat Reduction Agency U.S. Defense Department took part in the annual meeting of the Animal Protection Association, which was devoted to problems of biological safety. During the meeting took part in the roundtable.

Scientific secretary, candidate of Biology Science Kovalenko L.I. in October 2009 took part in the roundtable, held by the Ukrainian Scientific Institute of Technology at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (Sweden).

In October 2009, NSC director "IECVM, Doctor of Veterinary Science Academy UAAS Stegniy B.T. and head of the Laboratory of Molecular Diagnostics, candidate of Veterinary Science Gerilovych A.P. by invitation Threat Reduction Agency U.S. Defense Department took part in the scientific meeting of the Threat Reduction Agency. It returned information on performance and new business Biological Threat Reduction Program (BTRP).

Head of the laboratory study of Diseases of swine and Epizootology candidate of Veterinary Science Buzun A.I. participated in the International workshop of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada on innovation in the field of biosafety and biosecurity, held in Quebec (Canada) in October 2009. As a result of the workshop received new information about innovations in organizing activities to ensure biosafety and biosecurity.

Continued implementation of joint scientific work with leading research institutions of the Russian Federation (VNDIZT, VIEV, VNDTIBP, VNDPFT, State University of Belgorod).

Based on the agreement with the Russian Institute of Experimental Veterinary (VIEV, Moscow) on scientific and technical cooperation an exchange of information on production technology of diagnostic kits for diagnosis of infectious cattle. Under this contract Head of Veterinary Science Virology candidate Stetsenko V. VIEV visits to joint research projects.

As part of the September 2009 International Scientific Conference "Monitoring, prediction, diagnosis and prevention of infectious animal diseases by using modern methods Epizootology, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (14-18 September 2009) meetings were held with scientists from Poland France, Serbia and the CIS countries and coordination of joint efforts to strengthen biosafety and biosecurity standards. The same aspect was the focus of the agenda of the next meeting of the Coordinating Council in the scientific cooperation in the veterinary field of CIS. At this meeting signed a protocol of intent on establishing an international contact group of experts in biosafety and biosecurity in veterinary medicine.



The Institute received several foreign delegations. In March 2009 a delegation from the Institute for Threat Reduction Agency U.S. Department of Defense (DTRA). The visit was the issue of implementing arrangements.

In July 2009, NSC "IECVM" received a delegation from the Ukrainian Science Technology Center consisting of: Igor Litvinov, Senior Deputy Executive, Director Michel Zayet, Deputy Executive Director, Vlada Pashinska, senior specialist and project coordinator.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss:
- Creation of expert group;
- New offers scientists NSC "IECVM" to develop international projects.
In November 2009 a delegation from the Institute of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, U.S. and Ukrainian Science Technology Center consisting of: Raymond Reilly, Vic Korsun, Elena Taberko. The visit was to discuss the commercialization of projects R 160 "Genetic variability of mycobacterium tuberculosis and atypical mycobacteria, isolated from farm animals in the contaminated zones" and R 168 "Obtaining antigens and monoclonal antibodies for use in ELISA test kits for diagnosis of Aujeszky".



After the visit of scientists of NSC "IECVM" prepared proposals for the commercialization of these projects. Proposals under consideration by the partners of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, USA.
